Opportunities

We are looking for motivated people to join our group. If you are interested in neurosymbolic AI, graph neural networks, causal machine learning, or AI for science (computational biology, drug discovery), read the relevant section and reach out. Strong programming skills in Python/PyTorch/Julia/R and a background in AI/ML or computational biology are valued.

PhD Students and Postdocs

Self-funded / Fellowship holders. We welcome PhD applicants who have secured their own funding through fellowships such as PMRF, CSIR-UGC NET, or equivalent. If you hold (or are likely to receive) such a fellowship and your interests align with ours, please get in touch.

BITS Pilani PhD Programme. BITS Pilani offers PhD positions with Teaching/Research Assistantships. Candidates who clear the BITS PhD entrance process can join the lab. See the BITS PhD admissions page for eligibility and schedule.

Postdoc. Happy to host if you have your own funding.

Master and Bachelor Students (BITS Pilani or outside)

M.E. dissertation students. Write to us with a research proposal. Typical projects are in neurosymbolic AI, GNNs, or AI for biology. I am also open to (co-)supervising theses from outside BITS campuses, if the student is interested in pursuing a PhD with us later.

BITS UG Students. Study-Oriented Projects (SOP) and summer research internships are available. See the Summer 2026 application form. Keep watching for such opportunities.

External Students. Short-term visits (2-3 months) may be arranged for students with a strong ML/AI background and a specific project interest. We do not have funding for external interns; you must have your own support, including stay outside the institute campus.

How to Apply

Email tirtharaj@goa.bits-pilani.ac.in with:

  1. Your CV with links to prior codes,
  2. A half-page statement of research interest, and
  3. An embarrassing research mistake you made.

Note. We DO NOT have any social media accounts, and we DO NOT use a separate email address for our group. Everything goes straight through the PI’s email, so that is the best place to reach us for any questions or collaborations!
